Close to nature

There are a lot of beautiful places in Denmark, but very few places you will find nature as unique and varied as within Destination Sjælland presenting open plains, endless coasts and islands, deep forests and prize-winning nature parks.

Along more than 400 kilometres of shoreline the landscape rises from flat child-friendly beaches in the south to the hilly and prize-winning Ice Age landscape at Røsnæs.

Experiences in nature are waiting for you, whether you are into hikes on the Fjordsti (a trail along Roskilde Fjord and Isefjorden) or spending time on the water in a kayak or on a SUP board. You can spot eagles and other exciting birds at Tempelkrogen or at Skarresø, search for amber along the west coast of Zealand or try your luck with a fishing rod.

Presenting several Blue-Flag beaches there are plenty of possibilities to have a swim when summer is at its best. The majority of the beaches are child-friendly without dangerous current and surprising depths. You can also use the coasts for more physical activities if you want to try your hands at kayaking or Stand Up Paddling (SUP). Just as you can engage your kids in a search for beautiful stones.

Destination Sjælland is a true mecca for anglers, whether you are into fly fishing, predator fishing or you simply want to bring your kids to fishing water.

From the shore or from a boat you can try your hands at fishing for sea trout, flatfish and cod, as well as garfish and mackerel when in season.

There are numerous hotspots along the coastline and in the fjords that you can easily access no matter season, experience or age.

Also, several lakes, creeks, canals and Put & Take lakes gives you the possibility to catch perch, pike, walleye, carps or trout.

Unique Røsnæs and beautiful Nature Park Åmosen are only some of the unspoilt natural areas that you can experience within Destination Sjælland.

We have magnificent forests, hills, swamps, lakes and creeks combined with beautiful hikes, amazing bike routes and challenging MTB-trails.

Whether you are into a short ride on the bike or a long persevering hike in the hiking boots, there is an experience in nature ready for you.

The five islands – Orø, Omø, Agersø, Sejerø and Nekselø – constitute a small archipelago, and with the peninsulas Reersø and Glænø they are very appealing destinations to boaters.

You find charming harbours with cosy atmospheres where you can enjoy some relaxing days before setting off to the next destination.
